Speed up any lecture video, skip silence, boost quiet audio and pick up where you left off.
an independent app studio
Apphance is a small software studio. We sketch, build and run our own products, starting with StudyFox, an AI study app for students.
how an Apphance app happens
Every app starts on paper. Boxes, arrows, a lot of crossing out. Sketches are cheap to change and easy to throw away, so we make plenty of them.
The best sketch becomes a real app. Clean code, quick screens, and nothing on them that doesn't need to be there.
We put it in people's hands early. A rough edge that's live beats a perfect feature that isn't.
Feedback goes straight back into the sketchbook. Ideas, bugs, the occasional thank-you. Then we do it all again.

your clever study buddy
An AI study app that turns notes, PDFs and YouTube videos into things you can actually revise from, then lets you ask questions about the material while you study.
in the workshop
Chrome extensions that each do one job. No accounts, no servers, nothing leaves your computer.
Speed up any lecture video, skip silence, boost quiet audio and pick up where you left off.
Block distracting sites for a Pomodoro-style focus session, with a calm block page and stats that stay on your machine.
Highlight text on any page and add notes. They're still there next visit, and export to Markdown.
Make flashcards from any page and review them with FSRS spaced repetition. Quizlet import included.
Cite the page you're on in APA, MLA, Chicago and more, paste it with formatting intact, keep a bibliography.
what we care about
Every app starts as a doodle on paper. If it doesn't make sense as a sketch, it won't make sense on a screen.
We ship small and often, then listen. The best ideas come from the people using the app.
Your work is yours. Where we can, it stays on your device, and our student tools don't need an account at all.
